Go To Standards Tracker ...25/05/2022 | Club Championships - Eye 5K , then 3K Track Event Wed 28 June 2022 |
The next round of the senior club championships is the Eye 5K on Wednesday 22 June 2022. New for 2022 will be an online entry page where you can get your entry in before race day.
Following that our next Club Championship event is the 3k track event at the Peterborough embankment athletic track on Wednesday 29th June. We have booked the track from 19.15 and members should arrive at that time to register. We will run 3, possibly 4 races on the night, dependent on the numbers who attend, with all those in a given age category running in the same race
Tim has agreed to organise the evening but needs 4 or 5 people to help him, firstly with registration and setting up the races and then timing and recording the results. Members can run in their race and help so if you are willing to lend a hand please let Tim know directly on: tim30dstj@aol.com
For those who have not run at the track before, car parking is free in the car park next to the Embankment after 4pm and 3000m is 7½ laps of the track. We will also have access to the pavilion to leave bags etc along with toilets, showers and changing facilities.
WJ will cover the cost of the track hire therefore whilst there is no cost to members, any donations made on the night in lieu of an entry fee or contribution to the hire cost will be added to our charity fundraising this year
If you've any questions please ask Tim or I |

16/05/2022 | MARSHALLS REQUIRED - Werrington 3k and 5K Wednesday 3 August 2022 |
To all members. Once again our turn to host a 5k race as part of the Peterborough GP Series will soon be upon us. We have an excellent reputation of organizing well run races and we would like this to continue. To do this though we need volunteers to marshal both the junior 3k and senior 5k race on Wednesday 3rd August 2022. We use bus lanes and main roads at a peak time of the evening so marshals are even more important. We also of course have to comply with health and safety requirements. This is the only race that we host as a club, and the income this generates enables us to maintain club membership subscriptions at their current level. I hope you can make space in your diary and help out. As an incentive to volunteer as a marshal, you can, if you wish, have your name entered into a draw for a free entry for one or all of the following forthcoming events: Folksworth 15 (2 places available) – now rearranged to January 2023 Sawtry 10 mile (1 place) 4 September 2022 Sandringham 10k (1 place) 25 September 2022 Sandringham 24 hour race (1 place) 19 – 21 August 2022 Please sign up on the sheet on the notice board that I will bring to club night to advise Ann Woods (our marshal in chief) of your availability, or let me know by calling/ texting 07757 747 588 or e-mail wjchairman@werringtonjoggers.co.uk as soon as possible, indicating which race draw(s) you wish to be entered in, so we can allocate marshal positions. The 3k race starts at 7.00pm and the 5k race starts at 7.30pm, so marshals will be required from 6pm on the night, to collect their marshal bibs and get to their positions in good time. Many thanks Rod McDonald Race Director |

We are proposing to allign the Werrington Joggers year end with that of England Athletics , i.e. 31 March, in order to reduce the administration involved . This will be at no extra cost to members who can choose either to affilliate to EA or not, and there will only be one payment required each year. Please be aware that due to the temporary closure of the Werrington Sports Centre the club will be meeting at the Community Room of the Ploughman, next to Tesco. This room is through the door on the right as you enter the main entrance.
The Ploughman is at 1 Staniland Way, Werrington, Peterborough, PE4 6NA.
To avoid congestion and to ensure Juniors can be collected at the end of their session, please can Senior members use the front of the commuity room, and Juniors the rear of the room, furthest from the entrance door.
Please can all avoid congregating at the community room door or at the outside main entrance so that the customers for the bar can freely access it.
New runners are very welcome and we have a team of volunteers to help you in your first few weeks with the club whether you are a complete running novice or an experienced veteran. Our volunteer rota can be found here.
For all news, events and coaching for our Junior Section, please click Werrington Joggers Junior Site.
Do you enjoy running? Would you like to join a sports club? Are you worried about keeping fit ? Are you looking for a way to complete your Duke of Edinburgh Physical?
Werrington Joggers run a Junior Section for children aged 9-16. We meet on Tuesday evenings between 6pm – 7pm at the Werrington Sports Centre.
Your children will receive instruction from qualified coaches, become part of a growing running community within Peterborough and have access to road, cross country and track events.
Annual subscription is only £15 and will be refunded if after 2 weeks your child does not wish to continue.
Induction evenings take place regularly during the year and the next induction dates can be found on the Junior Introduction page here
During the induction we will cover a range of topics such as when to eat, injuries, clothing, competition and behaviour.
We hope you will consider joining our friendly local club and we look forward to seeing you and your children at our next induction.
For any further information prior to the next Induction evening please contact either Tim Cook (07793 906746) or Louise Richardson (07732 407070) otherwise you are most welcome to simply turn up with your child on the next date.
We regularly meet on a Sunday for a cross country run. These are social events and can vary between 6 and 12 miles, often with alternative shorter routes. Very often muddy - trail shoes are recommended if you have any - and run from local village halls where possible.
Sunday Run - Nassington
Many Sunday Runs have more than one distance alternative and can vary in terrain. Please see the Diary for more details of times, locations and formats. Sunday Runs are an excellent way to get to know your fellow runners and our tradition of "looping back" to keep groups together ensures that no-one is left running on their own or will get lost. Please support the run hosts who plan and arrange the runs and spend a Sunday morning in the fresh air on some of our local countryside routes.
The club diary has details of the meeting points and start times of the runs. Start times are prompt. The runs have a guide to distance and difficulty.
Many members take part in the regular Peterborough parkrun and a list of the latest results for the consolidated Werrington Joggers members can be found by clicking here. This is a measured 5km time trial open to the general public every Saturday morning at Ferry Meadows country park at 9am, and elsewhere as an unmeasured 5km run. these are not races and no entry fee is required but you must pre-register on the web site.
