Andy Keir and myself went with David Mackman in his car. We left Peterborough around 7:30am and arrived at the car park in Worksop just after 9am which was 1 mile from the event village.
The race is chipped timed, and the bib numbers are sent to you in the post.
There was a long queue for the toilets but was quick to move. Whilst waiting, I heard on the tannoy that this is in the Runners World top ten most scenic half marathons in the country. I certainly could see why.
Then we went to the bag drop which was outside, but bags are stored under cover. I was looking for somewhere to sit so I can change my shoes etc, but I couldn't see anywhere. This could be a potential improvement for the pre race experience.
Race started dead on time at 10am. It is a very scenic course taking in a park but I can't remember the name. Pretty much the first mile was all up hile, and this was the sign of things to come, as it seemed to me you were only ever running up or down hill. Certainly isn't a PB course. But the scenery is stunning made even more beautiful with the Autumn colours.
After the race, you get the normal goodies, a lovely medal, bottle of water, bananas and other food items, and your short sleeved t-shirt. I noted their website said you get a long sleeve t-shirt.
