The Oscar award was donated to the club by the late Keith Nelson when he was publisher of Todays Runner Magazine (now known as Running Fitness magazine).
Keith wanted the Oscar to recognise pure athletic excellence whether on a local, national or international stage and it continues to be the only club award presented purely on the basis of athletic excellence.
